About the treatment
The closest thing to a natural tooth
An implant has three parts: the fixture placed in the bone, an abutment that connects through the gum, and the crown you actually see. Because the fixture integrates with the bone, it supports biting force on its own — the neighbouring teeth are left untouched.
That is the main advantage over a bridge, which requires the adjacent teeth to be prepared for crowns. An implant also transmits load into the jawbone, which helps maintain the bone that otherwise tends to shrink where a tooth has been lost.

The stages
How treatment progresses
Implant treatment runs in stages over several months, with a temporary tooth in place throughout.
Assessment and planning
Imaging establishes bone volume and the position of nerves and sinuses, so the implant position is planned before surgery.
Placement
The fixture is placed in the jawbone under local anaesthetic, then left to integrate with the bone.
Restoration
Once integrated, the abutment and final crown are fitted, shade-matched to your other teeth.
